Research Interests
U-Compare: integrated natural language processing system and interoperable language resources
I lead, manage and develop the U-Compare open source project, which provides a UIMA compliant integrated natural language processing platform and the world largest interoperable language resources.
UIMA compliant integrated natural language processing platform
The U-Compare platform is designed to support users NLP tasks in a throughly automated way and many generic features. This is achieved by considering the interoperability from many aspects while everything as compliant as possible with the UIMA framework.
By extending the UIMA's component and workflow oriented concepts, the U-Compare platform allows users to create UIMA workflows from any UIMA components, run workflows, generate possible combinations of components, compare and evaluate components, show workflow results both statistically and visually. These features are fully automated so no coding task required, while developers can plug their components easily.
We currently work to add new features such as integration of machine learning methods and automatic remote deployment distributing over machines.
World laregest compatible UIMA components by collaboration with worldwide research parties
UIMA components are formally compatible in general but not necessarily sematically compatible. We collaborate with worldside research parties to create and provide sematically compatible UIMA components multilingually. Our components are available by simply dragging-and-dropping when used in the U-Compare platform.
English resources were mainly collected by the University of Tokyo (Tsujii Laboratory), University of Manchester (NaCTeM), University of Colorado (CCP/UCHSC) and currently several servers in the world host web service components. We also provide Japanese resources collaborating with AIST and NINJAL.
U-Compare is currently developed at DBCLS. Please refer to the U-Compare website for details: http://u-compare.org/
Psychologically plausible syntactic parsing
My research interest is human langauge processing in a computational approach and its applications.
